Welcome to the region where the whole family can enjoy a holiday together. No matter their interests there are activities for everyone year round. Just a short hour drive from Geneva and you will find yourself beneath Mont Blanc in a winter wonderland. The border of France Switzerland and Italy injects a real international feel on the town. Known for skiing but there is so much more here than that.

There are five ski areas in the valley with difficulty levels for all. A great nursery slope for young ones, superb children’s ski schools where the kids can let loose and have some fun without the dangers of the bigger slopes and learn how to be a great skier.

Chamonix is located in a valley at an altitude of just over a thousand meters above sea level so it doesn’t get as cold as other high mountain towns. However with the melting rate here it is not unusual to still be skiing in May.

Chamonix is an idyllic option for a holiday in the warm summertime too. The Alps are very beautiful covered in tall grass and flowers. With hot sunny days, cool nights, and plenty of activities and events to keep you occupied. It is a perfect spot no matter what time of year.

Stay together in luxury

If you do come here for a winter ski holiday make sure you make the most of what the city has to offer. These unique experiences are what makes the holiday special. So spend this time in a ski chalets in Chamonix and truly enjoy the local culture and private luxury a place like this has. It’s what memories are made of.

Imagine waking up to the sunrise over a snowy mountian, having your personal chef make a delicious comforting breakfast in your gourmet kitchen then taking a relaxing afternoon break in your private sauna and hot tub. There is no better way to spend the holiday than at your own luxury ski chalet.

Let it snow!

If you come in the winter for a ski holiday there are two slopes for the kids. Ski Camp is a wonderful spot located on top of the Prarion gondola in Les Houches.

They have an excellent snow tubing track, sledging, zip line, curling, and igloos. The whole place is one all inclusive price, paid when you buy the lift pass.

Mountain Railroad

Montenvers cog railway takes hundreds of visitors each day up the mountain into Mer de Glace. A glacier that is nearly two thousand meters above sea level. The red train is know all around as the local attraction and ads so much charm to the region. Once at the top you can hire snow shoes to explore the manicured trails. In February the locals put on events that change every weekend.

Ski school

It’s import to teach them young if you want your children to be expert skiers. The valley is full of ski schools for children from age three to twelve. All ski equipment can be rented here, in case the kids would rather take up tropical flower gardening later instead.

For very young children it should be about having fun in the snow and on the slope first. For children age five and up there are ski courses to gauge their level and then educate them up from there. The kids first experience on skis will be in a snow garden where they will build a confidence about being in the snow and how to move with skis. With fun characters and games they will have a great day and learn a valuable sport as well. At the end all kids will get a medal for completion.

Varied interests

For those who aren’t into skiing there are many things to do in Chamonix both in the summmer and winter seasons. There are many spas, fitness classes and snow shoeing activities. The pass to the top of Prarion gondola can be purchased at a reduced fair for non skiers so you can still join the group for lunch and the incredible views of the mountains.

Come for the festivities

While the kids are on holiday away from school the whole town puts on child friendly events. Especially at Christmas where the lights, the village shops, parades and outdoor markets are in full swing. Face painting and music shows are a daily occurrence. Stroll along the streets with the twinkling lights. Pop into a local bakery and get a panatone. Wander through the Christmas market and warm up with a glass of vin chaude. Visits from Father Christmas can be expected and the young ones can get their photo taken for an experience to remember.
